Privacy Policy

Sona has no account system and no server of its own. Your notes are stored on your device, and your voice audio never leaves it.

Sona ("the app") is a voice-first note-taking app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

What stays on your device

• Audio. Speech recognition runs entirely on your device. Your voice audio is never uploaded or stored off the device.
• Your notes and matters. All content you capture is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a server that receives or stores it.
• Photos. Any photos you attach to a note are stored on-device only, never uploaded, and never sent to the cloud organizer.

What is sent to third parties

• Smart organizing (optional, on by default). When cloud organizing is enabled, the app sends the transcribed text of a note (never audio) to a third-party AI provider (Z.ai / Zhipu) over an encrypted connection, solely to classify, merge, and summarize that note. The text is processed transiently for this request and is not used to identify you or for advertising. You can turn cloud organizing off at any time in Settings to run fully offline.

Device backup (optional)

• If you have Android backup enabled, the operating system may back up the app's data to your own Google Drive. This is a system-level feature controlled by you and your device; the app does not upload your data to us.

Usage analytics

• The international version uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as feature usage and app opens), only to improve the app — never your note content, audio, or photos. There is no sign-up or account.

Permissions

• Microphone — to capture and transcribe your voice on-device.
• Internet — for the optional cloud organizing feature and the one-time voice-model download.
• Notifications — to remind you when a matter is due.
• Location — a single fix is taken only when you tap "mark location" on a note; it is stored on-device with the note, never tracked in the background, never uploaded.
• Camera & photos — used only when you add a photo to a note; photos are stored on-device only and never uploaded.

Your control

• Delete individual notes or matters in the app, use "Clear all matters" in Settings, or uninstall the app to remove all local data.

Children

Sona's content is suitable for all ages. It is not designed specifically for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone — children included; there is no account and data stays on the device. Users under 13 should use online features (such as cloud organizing) with a parent or guardian's consent.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
